In vitro cholesterol efflux capacity of HDL. HDL (25 µg/mL) was incubated for 4 h with 3H-cholesterol-loaded J774A.1 mouse macrophages, as described in the Methods. Cholesterol efflux is expressed as the proportion of [³H]-cholesterol detected in the culture medium relative to total [³H]-cholesterol in cells and medium.
