Antibiotic-treated mice display reduced body fat and plasma lipid levels. C57Bl6 mice were fed a low (LF) or high fat (HF) diet and treated with vehicle control, rifaximin or an antibiotic (Abx) cocktail for 4 weeks. (A) Body weight was measured and expressed as percentage from baseline. (B) Body fat mass was estimated based on the summation of fat pad weights expressed as a percentage of body weight. Liver weight was measured in grams and then expressed as a percentage of total body weight (C). Plasma triglyceride (D) and low density lipoprotein were measured (E).
