The effect of a change in α on the I_IC class. We have used $\beta =1/7,$$\xi =1/10,$$\eta =1/21,$ with a total population of $N=2*{10}^7,$ and ran simulations with $\alpha =1.13*{10}^{-8}$ (solid curve) and with $\alpha =8.47*{10}^{-9}$ (dashed curve). The reduction in α produces a marked reduction in the epidemic peak and also a marked slowing down in the dynamics.
