Cumulative incidence of hypertension onset based on self-reported and objectively defined onset age. Self-reported hypertension onset age was based on a self-administered questionnaire at Year 25 exam. Objective hypertension onset age was based on measured BP ≥140/90 mm Hg or use of antihypertensive medication at either 1 or 2 consecutively attended exams between 1985 and 2011. N = 2,649.
