Insulin resistance enhances overload-stimulated muscle glycogen accumulation. After 12 weeks of high-fat diet (HFD) feeding, mice underwent unilateral synergist ablation surgery to induce overload (OVL) of the plantaris muscle for 5 days. (A) Total muscle glycogen content was assessed using a hexokinase-based assay; or (B) muscles were incubated in [5-3H]-glucose to determine glycogen synthesis. Data are mean ± standard deviation.
