NOX expression and function in kidney fibrosis. NOXs constitute a major source of ROS in the kidney. Renal NOXs modulate a variety of cell functions that are involved in kidney fibrosis such as inflammation, ECM deposition, myofibroblast differentiation/contraction, and EndMT.
