Pearls Pitfalls

    The knee is extended to facilitate resection of the bursa.

    To minimize extravasation, fluid inflow is by gravity and no Arthro-pump is used.

    Complete resection is not needed to seal off the cavity.

    Fluid extravasation may lead to spreading of bacteria in case of prepatellar septic bursitis.

    Aggressive resection of the superficial bursal wall may jeopardize the blood superficial wall.
