Myocardial oestrogen receptor expression is not affected by VCD‐induced ovarian failure. Myocardial homogenates from intact mice or mice at 60 and 120 days after VCD injection were resolved by SDS‐PAGE and probed for oestrogen receptor‐α and ‐β proteins. Total protein loading was assessed by blotting for α‐actinin. A, Oestrogen receptor‐α immunoblotting revealed bands corresponding to the 66 and 36 kDa isoforms. Protein expression for both splice variants was unaltered during peri‐menopause as compared to intact controls. B, Immunoblotting for oestrogen receptor‐β protein found no differences across groups.
