Tooth Wear Screening, grading scales of the TWES 2.0

Five‐point ordinal scale for occlusal and incisal grading 16

Grade 0 = no (visible) wear

Grade 1 = visible wear within the enamel

Grade 2 = visible wear with dentin exposure and loss of clinical crown height ≤ 1/3

Grade 3 = loss of clinical crown height > 1/3 but < 2/3

Grade 4 = loss of clinical crown height ≥ 2/3

Five‐point ordinal scale for non‐occlusal and non‐incisal (= oral and vestibular) grading 13 :

Grade 0 = No (visible) wear

Grade 1 = Wear within the enamel

Grade 2 = Wear with dentin exposure (less than 50% of the area)

Grade 3 = Wear with dentin exposure (50% or more of the area)

Grade 4 = Wear with dentin exposure (complete‐tooth loss of enamel or pulp exposure)
