Ephedrine vs placebo Group 1: ephedrine 30 mg Group 2: placebo Identical capsules taken by mouth 1 h before institution of the spinal anaesthetic. All participants then received Hartmann's solution 15 mL/kg before subarachnoid injection of 0.5% heavy bupivacaine 2.5 mL and diamorphine 0.25 mg, using a 25‐gauge pencil‐point needle with the patient in the sitting position on the operation table |
