Study name Healthy babies through infant‐centred feeding protocol: an intervention targeting early childhood obesity in vulnerable populations
Methods RCT
Participants Study setting: Colorado and Michigan, United States of America
Inclusion criteria: mothers over 18 years of age with infants younger than 4 months of age who have not started solid foods and are of low income (≤ 185% federal poverty level in the USA and eligible for federal food assistance programmes)
Exclusion criteria: mother or infant with diagnosed eating, physical, or chronic health problem
394 mothers and infants are needed based on the power calculation
Interventions Intervention group: locally developed "Healthy Babies" intervention consisting of 6 in‐home lessons delivered by a trained paraprofessional instructor followed by 3 reinforcement telephone calls
Control group: traditional nutrition education offered by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Programme
