M. smegmatis mc2155 (closed circles) and M. smegmatis mc2155 ΔphoH2 (open squares) were cultured in (A) LB, (B) Sautons, (C) Sautons—carbon limiting, (D) Sautons—nitrogen limiting and (E) Sautons—phosphate limiting media. Growth was measured by monitoring optical density (OD600) at regular intervals. Data were plotted as the mean and SD of three biological replicates of each strain and an unpaired t-test was used to test for significant differences between the strains. Plots show that M. smegmatis mc2155 ΔphoH2 adopts the same growth profile as its parent in rich, defined and nutrient poor conditions. (Plots generated and analysed in Prism V7).
