M. smegmatis mc²155 (closed circles) and M. smegmatis mc²155 ΔphoH2 (open squares) were cultured in (A) LB, (B) Sautons, (C) Sautons—carbon limiting, (D) Sautons—nitrogen limiting and (E) Sautons—phosphate limiting media. Growth was measured by monitoring optical density (OD₆₀₀) at regular intervals. Data were plotted as the mean and SD of three biological replicates of each strain and an unpaired t-test was used to test for significant differences between the strains. Plots show that M. smegmatis mc²155 ΔphoH2 adopts the same growth profile as its parent in rich, defined and nutrient poor conditions. (Plots generated and analysed in Prism V7).
