Pathological definition of placenta previa accreta spectrum. ( a ) Placenta previa accrete. Chorionic villi directly attached to the uterine myometrium with complete or partial absence of the decidua basalis in a case with placenta previa. Those conditions can be classified as total, partial, or focal adherence of the placenta by the clinical and pathological findings abutting the myometrium. ( b ) Placenta previa increta. Chorionic villi invade deeply into the myometrium layer in a case with placenta previa. ( c ) Placenta previa percreta. Chorionic villi penetrate myometrium into the uterine serosa and the bladder, or perforate the uterine wall into the pelvic cavity in a case with placenta previa.
