Intrinsic characteristics of the newborn
◦ Maternal ethnicity: highest in black race, lowest in Hispanic ethnicity
◦ Gestational age: highest in late preterm (and early term) newborns
◦ Birth weight: highest in small and large for gestational age
◦ Gender: highest in male sex
