Classification of the COVID-19 Severity
Classifications | Definitions |

Non-severe COVID-19 | Patients have non-specific symptoms, such as fever, cough, fatigue, myalgia, pharyngalgia, but have no signs of dehydration, sepsis, or shortness of breath. The radiological examination shows no signs of severe pneumonia. |
Severe COVID-19 | Adult cases meeting any of the following criteria in the quiescent state: (1) Respiratory distress (respiratory rate ≥ 30 breaths/min); (2) Peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO2) ≤ 93%; (3) Arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2)/fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) ≤ 300 mmHg; (4) Pulmonary lesion progression exceeds 50% in 24–48 h (5) Respiratory failure that requires mechanical ventilation; (6) Shock; (7) Organ failure that requires to be managed in intensive care unit. |
