MreB mutations confer increased resistance to AimB overexpression and A22. (A) A22 resistance mutations complemented the growth defect due to AimB overexpression. Shown are growth curves for wild-type and A22-resistant strains containing an AimB overexpression plasmid grown with 0.03% xylose (AimB overexpression) or 0.3% glucose (no AimB overexpression). (B) AimB overexpression-resistant strains exhibited higher resistance to A22 than wild-type. Overnight cultures were diluted and grown in media containing 1, 2.5, and 5 μg/mL A22 for 8 h, at which time OD660 readings were taken and standardized to the wild-type culture grown in that concentration of A22.
