(A) Increasing C3 concentrations showed a significant increase in c-Jun mRNA expression in the inflammatory condition (p < 0.01). (B) Increasing C3 concentrations showed a significant increase in c-Fos mRNA expression in the inflammatory condition (p < 0.01). All results are presented as the mean, while error bars indicate standard deviations. Data were normalized against the expression observed in the control condition, which was arbitrarily set at 1. A linear regression analysis to evaluate C3 dose–response effects was performed. Changes were considered significant when the regression coefficients were significantly different from zero (p < 0.05).
