Table 4.
Results of Slug scores and quantification using image cytometry. Cross table of the estimated Slug expression on an ordinal scale based on the classification of Cappellesso and colleagues [22] and the results of the Slug quantification using image cytometry. A modification of the percentage ranges of the original classification according to the right column of the table is proposed. Slug was scored into absent (0; 0%), scattered weak reaction (1; ≤10%), focal strong reaction (2; ≤30%) and generalized strong reaction (3; >30%). This data suggests dichotomization in no and weak to negative (n = 30) and intermediate and strong to positive (n = 30) Slug expression, i.e., positive if >10% of tumor cells are Slug positive.
Slug IHC 1 | Number of Patients | Image Cytometry 2 | Modified Ranges 3 |
---|---|---|---|
0 (no) | 21 | 3.7 ± 2.3 | 0% |
1 (weak) | 9 | 5.6 ± 1.6 | ≤10% |
2 (intermediate) | 9 | 22.5 ± 2.1 | ≤30% |
3 (strong) | 21 | 40.2 ± 2.0 | >30% |
