The downregulation of NEIL2 is H. pylori specific and does not depend on Cag pathogenicity island. NEIL2 expression was determined by WB of whole-cell extracts of AGS cells after H. pylori and C. jejuni infection (A), 43504 WT and AhpC and NapA mutant strain infection (B), and WT and Cag and CagA mutant strain infection (C). D, the relative expression of NEIL2 transcript in WT and Cag and CagA mutant-infected AGS cells was determined by qRT-PCR. The expression of the uninfected control was taken as 1.
