Atenolol reduces the cytokine secretions of IL-1β, IL-8, MCP-1, TNF-α, IL-IRA, IL-6, Fractalkine, and VEGF from cocultures of healthy control monocytes with MSCs after 24 hours of exposure but does not alter any cytokine secretions from cocultures involving stroke patient-derived monocytes. Significance is shown by ∗p < 0.05. All fold changes are as compared to vehicle control.
