The genitofemoral nerve is formed from the L1 and L2 nerve roots and splits into the genital and femoral branches after passing through the psoas muscle. Nerve root impingement due to discitis and facet arthrosis could radiate pain into the ipsilateral testicle. A genitofemoral entrapment could also cause chronic testicular pain.
