H&E staining of the decellularized posterior poles and non-decellularized controls. H&E staining was performed for the control and decellularization protocols with high triton for 1 hour, low triton for 1 hour, low triton for 48 hours, low triton for 1 week, no trypsin, and high trypsin. The resulting images indicate that remaining cellular content was negligible for all decellularization protocols, compared to the control, and that the different protocols preserved the ECM microstructure to varying degrees.
