Cornea sections with H&E staining showed a lack of endothelial cells in the 2.5- and 3.0-mg/kg MNU groups, at all time points. In the 3.0 mg/kg MNU group, defects in Descemet's membrane (DM) were detected at all time points. DM appeared to be preserved in the 2.5- and 2.0- mg/kg MNU group. In the 2.0-mg/kg MNU group, CEC regeneration was observed from day 14 after MNU injection. In the control group, normal CECs were observed at all time-points. Scale bar = 250 µm.
