Figure 1.

IDH2 11C8B1 IHC in SNC. SNUC harboring IDH2 R172S variant comprised of sheets of large undifferentiated tumor cells with prominent nucleoli (A) shows granular cytoplasmic immunostaining pattern consistent with mitochondrial localization of IDH2 mutant protein as detected by 11C8B1 mAb (B). HGNEC-LCT IDH2 R172S mutant (C) demonstrates a diffuse positive immunolabeling for synaptophysin (C, inset, upper left) and chromogranin (C, lower left), and positive IDH2 IHC (D). In the IDH2 R172T mutated PD non-ITAC (E) the immunostaining pattern was similar to that in R172S mutants (F). In one IDH2 R172T mutated HGNEC-LCT liver metastasis (G) the IHC was focal and granular (H); (200x magnification, insets B and H, 400x magnification).

Abbreviations: SNC=sinonasal carcinoma, SNUC=sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, PD non-ITAC=poorly differentiated non-intestinal type adenocarcinoma, HGNEC-LCT=high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma, large cell type, SCNEC=small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma, SYN=synaptophysin, CHR=chromogranin.
