Additionally, the effect of the chimeric protein in the conjugative process of R388 and pKM101 has been analyzed (dominance assays, shaded in gray). E. coli DH5α and UB1637 strains were used as donor and recipient cells, respectively. Transfer frequencies were normalized to the number of transconjugants per donor and are the mean value of at least five independent experiments.
