APOE mutations in different regions. APOE mutation frequency causing lipoprotein glomerulopathy (LPG) is higher in the low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor binding region (amino acids 136–150) or around it, especially in the heparan sulphate proteoglycan (HSPG) binding region (amino acids 142 to 147). Mutations in the HSPG binding region (APOE Tokyo/Maebashi/Sendai/Chicago) are in red font. Mutations in the LDL receptor binding region outsides the HSPG binding region (APOE Okayama/Modena/Guangzhou) are in yellow font.
