Dependence of sparing effect of immune cells on the dose/fraction (D0). The figure shows the sparing effect in single fraction RT for different D0 values (2, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 Gy) under 4 different scenarios: (a) A%=10%, B%=5%; (b) A% =50%, B%=5%; (c) A%=20%, B%=10%; and (d) A%=50%, B%=10%. The magnitude of this sparing effect increases with the dose/fraction, reaches a maximum by 40-50 Gy/fraction, and almost completely vanishes at 2 Gy/fraction.
