Validations of cortisol EIAs using pooled methanol extracts from powdered ringed (A, C) and bearded (B, D) seal claws. Accuracy tests (A, B) were conducted by combining equal parts of pooled sample with each standard and the CI of each slope included 1 (slope of a 1 to 1 correlation). Parallelism tests (C, D) compared the slope of serially diluted pooled samples with serially diluted standards; the CIs of the slopes had strong agreement. Slopes, 95% CI of slopes and R² values are reported in Table 2.
