Mean lifespan ±SD was as follows; 29.8 ± 9.1 days in the wild-type strain, 26.4 ± 7.0 days in the sod-5 mutant, and 23.4 ± 7.9 days in the sod-1;sod-5 mutant. The mean lifespans of the sod-5 and sod-1;sod-5 mutants were shorter compared with that of the wild-type strain (P < 0.05 and < 0.0001, respectively). Means were conducted by Student's t-test.
