NR treatment prevents increases of TUNEL-positive cells following induction of LIRD. Both PBS- and NR-treated BALB/c mice received toxic light exposure and were euthanized at 1 week after exposure. Retinas from mice treated as described in text were fixed, sectioned, and used in a TUNEL assay.
