Study design. Rhesus macaques underwent baseline blood tests for C-reactive protein (CRP) and complete blood count (CBC). At day 0, animals were administered a high dose of PfSPZ or PkSPZ by direct venous inoculation. At day 5, blood was drawn, and animals were humanely euthanized to collect the entire liver.
