NCCR mouse model of AD display Aβ and pathological tau at 12 months of age. A) Immunofluorescence image showing Aβ deposits in the dentate gyrus of 12-month-old animals. Aβ was detected via double immunofluorescence using C42 (c-terminal Aβ42, rabbit antibody) and 4G8 (aa17– 24 Aβ, mouse antibody) (arrow). Aβ stain was not detected in 6-month-old NCCR mice and age-matched Tag control mice (TRE-SV40T Tg mice littermates) maintained on the same diet regimen. B) Immunofluorescence labeling shows PHF-1-positive neurons in the dentate gyrus of 12-month-old NCCR mice (arrow). PHF-1 immunolabeling was not detected in 6-month-old NCCR mice and age-matched TAg control mice (TRE-SV40T Tg mice littermates) maintained on the same diet regimen.
