Pneumothorax. In M-mode, the “stratosphere” or “barcode sign” can be visualized (shown on the right side of the image), indicating the absence of pleural sliding. The “seashore sign” is no longer present. The hyperechogenic pleura is identified by the arrow. This finding may be present in other conditions such as selective intubation and diaphragmatic paralysis.
