The stringent response had a significant impact on the efficacy of vancomycin (VAN) in a rabbit infective endocarditis (IE) model. Densities of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in target tissues in the IE model due to 105 colony-forming unit (CFU) challenges of JE2 parental and its isogenic relP-mutant or -complemented strains with/without VAN treatment.
