Profibrotic miR-199–3p expression is increased in lung and skin wounds of bleomycin-treated mice, an effect prevented by systemic ASC treatment. Expression of miR-199–3p in skin wound (a) and lungs (b) of aged C57BL/6 mice is increased in response to BLM treatment compared to saline controls. Treatment with allogeneic ASCs 1 day post-BLM infusion resulted in lower expression of miR-199–3p, similar to that of saline-only controls. miR-199–3p expression was measured by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction as described in Materials and Methods.
