The notations ffCC, fbCC, ffTC, and fbTC are used to describe the feedforward/feedback and direct/indirect characteristics of the pathways connecting neocortical areas. fbCC1, feedback corticocortical pathway 1; fbCC2, Feedback corticocortical pathway 2; ffCC, Feedforward corticocortical pathway; ffTC, Feedforward thalamocortical pathway; fbTC, Top-down thalamocortical pathway.
