Contribution of the essential remodeling the structure of chromatin (RSC) complex to yeast chromatin organisation. (A) Loss of RSC results in nucleosome shifts into the promoter, narrowing and partially filling the NDR. Nucleosome spacing is unchanged, indicating that all of the nucleosomes shift towards the promoter. Cells were depleted of the Rsc8 subunit by repressing its expression from a GAL promoter. (B) The effect of RSC depletion can be explained by a smaller putative barrier complex footprint, perhaps involving a loss of barrier subunits. Adapted from [77].
