Metabolism of linoleic acid (LA) and α-linolenic acid (ALA). LA and ALA are converted into longer chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in the presence of series of enzymes namely Fads1, Fads2, and elongase. Arachidonic acid (AA) produced from LA involves in the endocannabinoid system pathway.
