PAI evaluation of oxygenation dynamics is sensitive to the higher oxygen affinity of naked mole-rat blood. Blood samples taken from mouse ($n=4$), rat ($n=4$), and naked mole-rat (NMR; $n=5$) were oxygenated using $10\mu \mathrm{L}$ hydrogen peroxide (0.03% in PBS) at 37°C. (a) The maximum ${\mathrm{sO}}_2^{\mathrm{MSOT}}$ was highest in the naked mole-rat. (b) Considering the sigmoidal shape of the ODC, this would be expected to lead to the lowest gradient of the oxygenation change, which was confirmed in our experiments.
