1 MICs is minimal inhibitory concentrations; 2 MBCs is minimal bactericidal concentrations; 3 HC50 is the concentration of the peptides causing 50% haemolysis of the red blood cells. When no 50% haemolysis was observed, at 512 µM, a value of 1024 µM was used to calculate the therapeutic index; 4 Therapeutic index (TI) is the ratio of the HC50 to the geometric mean of MIC. Larger values indicate greater cell selectivity.
