Depressive and anxiety symptoms were assessed using the 14-item Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Total scores on the depression and anxiety subscales were summed to create a composite measure of mood symptoms. This composite score was assessed as a mediator of the relationship between ACE and executive outcomes. a) Mood symptoms partially mediated the relationship between ACE and total BADDS score. b) Mood symptoms partially mediated the relationship between ACE and sustained attention. c) Mood symptoms did not mediate a significant proportion of the relationship between ACE and working memory performance.
