Measurement of various sperm parameters in the presence of BisII. Intracellular pH (pHi) (A), intracellular Ca²⁺ concentration (B) and mitochondrial activity (C) were measured by spectrofluorometry. cAMP (D), ATP (E) and ATPase activity (F) in the sperm lysates were assayed using a microplate reader. Values are means±SD of 3 independent experiments. No significant difference was found between CONT (vehicle alone) and BisII (1 µM) in all parameters tested. In panel B, calcium ionophore, A23187 (1 µM) was added as a positive control. In panel C, uncoupler CCCP (10 µM) was included as a negative control.
