High glucose (HG, 33 mmol/L) can (a) increase lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release, (b) decrease cell viability and (c,d) increase cell death, as evidenced by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL)‐positive apoptotic cells, in H9C2 cells induced by hypoxia–reoxygenation (HR). Rapamycin (Rapa) can alleviate the damage of H9C2 cells induced by hypoxia and reoxygenation.
