Crosstalk between PGE₂ and PGF_2α prostanoid pathways. PGE₂ is created via conversion of PGH₂ by PGE synthases including m-PGES-1, m-PGES-2 and cPGES. Likewise, PGF_2α is formed by conversion of PGH₂ by AKR1C3. Additionally, PGF_2α can be created from PGE₂ by AKR1C1 or AKR1C2. 11β-PGF2α, a stereoisomer of PGF_2α, can also signal via the FP receptor and is created by the PGD₂ prostanoid pathway with an additional conversion by AKR1C3. PGE₂ can signal through its cognate PGE₂ EP receptors as well as the through PGF_2α FP receptor. Similarly, PGF_2α can signal through its FP receptor as well as through PGE₂ EP receptors.
