Expressions of histone deacetylase 4 (Hdac4) and heart and neural crest derivatives express 2 (Hand2) genes in rats. Representative image of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results for Hdac4 and Hand2 in left ventricle tissue from the control (CON) and experimental groups (ET), respectively. Expressions of the genes were normalized to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) expression. Histogram of real-time PCR gene products revealed significantly increased expression of both genes by ~143-fold (P=0.001) in response to 14 weeks of endurance training. Values are mean ± SE (n=7).
