Role of the FOXO transcription factors. FOXOs exhibit tumour-suppressive roles in inhibiting tumorigenesis by promoting cell apoptosis and senescence. However, depending on the cell type and context–dependent manner, FOXOs may drive cell autophagy, metastasis and angiogenesis for the cell survival.
