aRats were fed either STD or HFD for 9 weeks ad libitum. 13 cRA was orally administered to rats via a gastric tube in two different concentrations (7.5 mg/kg, 15 mg/kg) during 30 days. Visceral, perigonadal and retroperitoneal adipose tissue was removed and weighed during animal sacrifice. Adiposity index (%) was calculated as: ([retroperitoneal fat (g) + visceral fat (g) + epigonadal fat (g)] / [body weight (g)]) × 100 and expressed as adiposity percentage. Number of rats per group: 6.

*Statistically significantly different in relation to STD-C (* P≤0.05). Statistically significantly different in relation to STD+15 RA (⁰⁰ P≤0.01, ⁰⁰⁰ P<0.001). Data are expressed as mean ± SEM. Data were analysed using Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA (STATISTICA 13 StatSoft, Tulsa, OK, USA).
