Transwell® invasion assay of A: BxPC-3 and B: Panc-1 cells treated with 10 μM hit compounds or cromolyn (10, 100, 200 μM); data are shown as the number of cells that have invaded through the matrix to the lower chamber. Data is shown as mean ± SEM number of invasive cells as counted under the microscope (x100). Significant difference between groups by one way ANOVA p < 0.001; Bonferroni’s post hoc test between cells exposed to chemoattractant (untreated) and DMSO (vehicle control, 0.001% DMSO) or cell exposed to hit compounds is indicated by ∗ = p < 0.05, ∗∗ = p < 0.01 and ∗∗∗ = p < 0.001; n = 10–15 observations from 3 separate experiments. N.B. Cromolyn exhibited significant inhibition of invasion at concentrations ≥100 μM.
