Domain structure of CAPN1 and CAPN6. CAPN1 comprise a large subunit (80 kDa) and a small subunit (28 kDa). The large subunit contains four domains, namely I, II, III and IV, domain IV at the C-terminus with a PEF. The small subunit contains two domains, namely V and VI. The main difference in the structure of CAPN6 is that it has a domain T at the C-terminus, which contains a CBSW domain instead of a PEF domain at the catalytic subunit.
