Soil siderophore spike-recovery for DFOB, rhizoferrin, and protochelin (each spiked at 6.25 nmol g^–1). (A) Solvent extractions show low recoveries, particularly for rhizoferrin and protochelin. (B) A strong synergistic effect was observed for DFOB and rhizoferrin recovery when Ca²⁺ and ascorbate were used in combination as chemical extraction agents.
